What this division does
- Building and construction materials for contracting and project requirements, covering sourcing, consolidation and delivery scheduled against the construction programme.
- Materials are quoted against whichever standard the project specification calls for, rather than against a generic product description.
- Cement is supplied to EN 197-1 strength classes — CEM I 42.5 N and 52.5 N — or the ASTM C150 type equivalent, with sulphate-resisting Type V available for foundations in high-sulphate ground.
- Reinforcement steel follows BS 4449 Grade B500B and B500C or ASTM A615 Grade 60, from 8 mm to 40 mm diameter, with mesh to BS 4483.
- Structural sections and plate are quoted to ASTM A36 or EN 10025 S275 and S355, and hollow sections to EN 10219 or ASTM A500.
- Aggregates, sand and blockwork are quoted by nominal size and grading, in the quantities the pour schedule requires.
- Steel arrives with mill test certificates traceable to the heat number, and cement with the manufacturer’s certificate for the delivered batch.
- Where a specification permits an equivalent product, the substitution is flagged on the offer so the consultant can approve it before the order is placed.
What we handle
- Ordinary Portland and sulphate-resisting cement, bagged or in bulk
- Reinforcement bar and mesh to British and ASTM standards
- Structural steel sections, plate, hollow section and decking
- Aggregates, sand and blockwork by nominal size and grading
- Consolidated supply against a bill of quantities, scheduled to the construction programme
Materials and the standards they are quoted against
These are the published industry standards we quote against. Enquiries that reference them are priced fastest.

| Reinforcement bar | BS 4449 Grade B500B and B500C; ASTM A615 Grade 60, 8 mm to 40 mm diameter |
| Reinforcement mesh | BS 4483 fabric reinforcement to agreed sheet size and wire spacing |
| Structural sections | ASTM A36 / EN 10025 S275 and S355 — beams, channels, angles and plate |

Construction Materials — the questions buyers ask
Can you quote against a bill of quantities?
Yes. Send the BOQ or the material schedule with the applicable specification clauses and we will price it line by line, flagging any item where the specified product is not readily available and an equivalent would need consultant approval.
What is the difference between B500B and B500C rebar?
Both are 500 MPa characteristic yield strength to BS 4449. Grade C has higher ductility requirements — a greater minimum elongation and a tighter tensile-to-yield ratio — and is specified where seismic or high-ductility performance is required.
Do you supply mill certificates?
Yes. Steel is supplied with mill test certificates traceable to the heat number, and cement with the manufacturer's test certificate for the delivered batch.
