What this division does
- Scrap and metal waste for export, industrial plant equipment and spare parts, heavy machinery components, and equipment used in power generation, transmission and distribution.
- Ferrous scrap is traded against the ISRI Scrap Specifications Circular — the reference document every mill and trader in the world works from, rather than an informal description of the material.
- HMS 1 covers wrought iron and steel from 6 mm thickness with no galvanised content; HMS 2 admits black and galvanised material from 3 mm. Cargoes are normally contracted as an 80:20 or 70:30 blend of the two.
- Shredded scrap to ISRI 211 and new production busheling to ISRI 207–208 command a premium over HMS because of their consistency and low residual content.
- Non-ferrous material — copper, aluminium and brass — is traded to the corresponding ISRI designations and an agreed chemical analysis.
- Plant equipment and spare parts are supplied against the part number, machine model and serial number provided by the buyer. Where an OEM part is unavailable, any equivalent is identified explicitly and never presented as original equipment.
- Power equipment enquiries are priced from rated capacity, voltage and frequency, the applicable IEC or ANSI standard, cooling type and installation environment.
What we handle
- Ferrous scrap to ISRI grade specification, in container or bulk
- Non-ferrous scrap including copper, aluminium and brass grades
- Industrial plant equipment and OEM-compatible spare parts
- Distribution transformers, switchgear, cable and generating sets
- Radiation screening and pre-shipment inspection arranged on request
Ferrous scrap grades to ISRI specification
These are the published industry standards we quote against. Enquiries that reference them are priced fastest.
| Grade | Specification |
|---|---|
| HMS 1 (ISRI 200–202) | Wrought iron and steel scrap, 6 mm (¼") and over in thickness, free of galvanised and non-ferrous material |
| HMS 2 (ISRI 203) | Wrought iron and steel scrap, black and galvanised, 3 mm (⅛") and over in thickness |
| HMS 1&2 blend | Contracted as an 80:20 or 70:30 ratio, the most commonly traded international grade |
| Shredded (ISRI 211) | Fragmentised light steel, free of dirt, non-ferrous metal, loose cast iron, turnings and excessive moisture |
| Busheling (ISRI 207–208) | Clean new factory steel scrap, no dimension exceeding 300 mm (12") |
| Plate & structural (ISRI 232) | Cut structural and plate scrap, 6 mm and over, to agreed maximum dimensions |
| Copper & aluminium | Traded to ISRI non-ferrous designations, by agreed analysis |

Metals, Machinery & Power — the questions buyers ask
What does an HMS 1&2 80:20 contract actually mean?
That the cargo comprises 80 percent HMS 1 and 20 percent HMS 2 by weight. HMS 1 is the thicker, cleaner grade at 6 mm and above with no galvanised content; HMS 2 permits galvanised material from 3 mm. The ratio is the principal price driver after tonnage.
How is scrap inspected before shipment?
By an independent inspection company at the loading yard or port, verifying grade conformity, absence of prohibited materials, and — where the destination requires it — radiation screening. Certificates are issued as part of the shipping document set.
Do you supply spare parts to OEM specification?
Parts are supplied against the part number, machine model and serial number provided by the buyer. Where an OEM part is not available, an equivalent is offered only with the substitution clearly identified — never presented as original equipment.
What is required to quote power equipment?
Rated capacity, voltage and frequency, applicable IEC or ANSI standard, cooling type and installation environment. Transformer and switchgear enquiries without a rating and standard cannot be priced meaningfully.
